The Association of Pickleball Players (APP) announced today another addition to its 2023 international slate, a partnership with Pickleball Australia to become the promoting partner of the country’s premier event, now titled The 2023 GemLife Australian Pickleball Championships powered by The APP, held September 29 through October 2 in Sydney.

With more than 600 players expected to compete, the 2023 GemLife Australian Pickleball Championships powered by The APP will be the largest-ever competitive pickleball event in the southern hemisphere. The tournament marks the APP’s fifth international tournament partnership of the calendar year – joining events in England, Sweden, India and Spain – further cementing the APP’s international pickleball community and supporting the APP’s commitment to accelerate the growth of pickleball worldwide.

APP Founder Ken Herrmann will attend the 2023 GemLife Australian Pickleball Championships powered by the APP and will lead a two-hour Next Gen training session during the event, bringing his years of coaching expertise to the finest players in the southern hemisphere. He will also be running a Q&A session for players and parents, giving them insights into life as a pro player in the USA, and what it takes to succeed at the highest level in pickleball.

The 2023 GemLife Australian Pickleball Championships powered by The APP will host a variety of events and clinics throughout tournament week in Sydney, including traditional singles, doubles, and mixed doubles brackets in the age groups Under-18, 18+, 35+, 50+, 60+, 65+, 70+ and 75+ at skill levels 3.0 and below through 4.0 and above. Competition will take place at the Blacktown Leisure Centre, which boasts 35 outdoor pickleball courts and 16 indoor courts.
