These words don't just describe the great city of Detroit, but also the many players of the world's first and world's best pickleball tour. This week, the APP Tour heads to the Motor City for the first time as it gets set to host the 2026 APP Detroit Open.

Hundreds of pickleball players from across the globe will head to Vibe Credit Union Showplace in Novi, MI this week for four days of nonstop pickleball action. From amateurs of all ages, to the sport’s elite professionals, to the AARP Champions (50+) and Masters (60+) divisions and Humana Cup competition, all will compete for ranking points, prize money and plenty of hardware leading up to national TV broadcasts on ESPN 2 and CBS Sports Network.

Start your engines – the competition is going to be fierce. Here are the top pro storylines heading into the 2026 APP Detroit Open.

THREE-PEAT ACHIEVED

Jack Munro and Richard Livornese, Jr. won their third-straight men's pro doubles title together after defeating Quang Duong and Patrick Kawka in Chicago. The win gave Munro his fourth APP Tour gold medal thus far in 2026, leading all men's pros. Last year in Midland, MI, Livornese, Jr. took home the men's pro doubles gold medal alongside Tanner Tomassi. The APP Tour's dominant men's doubles duo return as the No. 1 seeds in Detroit.

KAT-TASTIC

Katerina Stewart took home her first career APP Tour mixed pro doubles gold medal as she and Ronan Camron teamed up for the title in Chicago. The Miami native also sits squarely as the No. 1 women's pro singles player in the APP U.S. Rankings, and will defend her title in Chicago.

HOMETOWN CHAMP REPEATS

Ammar Wazir, a native of Hoffman Estates, IL, and former tennis player at the Univ. of Illinois-Chicago, won the men's pro singles title in front of his hometown crowd of Chicago for the second straight year, defeating Jayden Broderick.

HISTORY WATCH

Megan Fudge is the APP Tour's all-time leader in total career medals (90), a record she set in 2025 in Cincinnati. Fudge (32 golds) remains one gold medal away from tying Simone Jardim for the most career women's pro gold medals (33). Will we witness history in Detroit?

BOBBI BRINGS IT

Bobbi Oshiro leads all APP Tour pros with seven (7) total medals thus far in 2026. The Hawaii native previously fared well in Michigan, taking home women's pro doubles gold and two silver medals at the 2025 APP Great Lakes Open in Midland, MI.

RONAN EMPIRE

Ronan Camron reached the podium twice in Chicago, taking home his first career APP Tour mixed pro doubles gold medal alongside Kat Stewart, plus earning bronze in men's pro singles. The 21-year-old from Fort Myers, FL is the No. 1 men's singles pro in the APP U.S. Rankings, and leads all APP Tour men's pros with five (5) total medals thus far in 2026.

SIMONE THE SPARTAN

Simone Jardim, one of the most decorated pros in pickleball history, previously served as the head women's tennis coach at Michigan State University for eight seasons from 2009-2016. From the Green & White to the Pickleball Hall of Fame, Jardim's career has been one for the ages.

DOMI-NANT PERFORMANCE

Domenika Turkovic clinched her fourth APP Tour women's pro singles medal in as many events with a silver performance in Chicago. The Croatia native then took her talents abroad and won the women's singles gold medal at the Proflex English Open Powered by the APP. Turkovic returns to the States in search of her first APP Tour gold of the season.
