Summer’s officially here, and the APP Tour is ready for Golden Tickets on the Golden Coast. The field is officially set for the season’s third Major tournament, the 2025 Zimmer Biomet APP Newport Beach Open.
The world’s first and world’s best pickleball tour returns to the iconic Tennis and Pickleball Club at Newport Beach for five days of elite pickleball action, culminating with the always-exciting Championship Sunday. Pickleball players from around the world will hit the courts to battle for hardware, featuring amateurs of all ages, pickleball’s elite pros and the AARP Champions (50+) and AARP Masters (60+) divisions, plus the latest round of the season-long Humana Cup competition.
The 2025 Zimmer Biomet APP Newport Beach Open is also a USA Pickleball Golden Ticket event, meaning gold medalists earn the right to secure their spot at the 2025 USAP National Championships.
In addition to national television coverage on ESPN2, the APP Tour is bringing four full days of livestream coverage on Championship Court on ESPN Plus and the Players Court on APPTV on YouTube.
As we ring in Fourth of July weekend, the APP Tour pros will look to make some fireworks. Here are the top storylines heading into the 2025 Zimmer Biomet APP Newport Beach Open.
SEE YOU IN SOCAL
The APP Tour returns to the Tennis and Pickleball Club at Newport Beach for the fourth time in its history. Orange County's premier pickleball venue will host the world's top pro pickleball players and hundreds of amateur players over five action-packed days of competition.
FUDGE ON TOP
After becoming the APP Tour's all-time total medal leader at the APP Vlasic Classic in Cincinnati, Megan Fudge added two more to her total in New York including a mixed pro doubles gold alongside Jack Munro.
SOFIA THE FIRST
Sofia Sewing has been dominant on the women's pro singles circuit in 2025, appearing in six straight finals and taking home four golds. Sewing's latest title came in New York City and officially placed her as the top-ranked women's pro singles player on the APP Tour, overtaking Megan Fudge.
MONEY MUNRO
Jack Munro has eight gold medals in six APP Tour events to start 2025, including winning all five men's doubles gold medals - most recently with Aidan Schenk in New York City. The 21-year-old pairs up once again with trusty partners Megan Fudge in mixed pro doubles and Will Howells in men's pro doubles in Newport Beach.
PEI NOW, YOU’RE AN ALL STAR
Pei Chuan Kao returns to action in Newport Beach for the first time since winning women's pro singles gold in her APP Tour debut at the APP Fort Lauderdale Open Major in April. Kao is widely considered one of the top international women in pickleball singles, and has competed internationally in pickleball in England, Asia and Australia.
ALL EYES ON CHRIS
Chris Haworth has 10 career APP Tour men's pro singles gold medals, tied for the most-all time. As the top seed, Haworth can take his place atop the record books with one more gold in Newport Beach.
AMAZING ARMAAN
Coming to the APP Tour as the top-ranked men's player from India, Armaan Bhatia has quickly became a force to be reckoned with. In New York Bhatia took home his first career gold medal in men's pro singles and first career doubles medal with a bronze in men's pro doubles.
OSHIRO ALL DAY
Bobbi Oshiro is a perfect 5-0 in gold medal matches in 2025, bringing home the titles in mixed doubles three times and women's doubles twice, including with fellow Floridian Randy Blanco in New York. Oshiro pairs up with Will Howells in mixed pro doubles and Sofia Sewing in women's pro doubles in Newport Beach.
BRAVERMANIA COMES HOME
Newport Beach native Jill Braverman returns to action in her hometown tournament with nine total medals thus far in 2025 including four golds. Braverman and Megan Fudge are the top seeds in women's pro doubles in Newport Beach.
FIRST-TIMERS RETURN
Nicole Eugenio (silver - women's pro singles), Katerina Stewart (bronze - women's pro singles), and Len Yang (silver - men's pro doubles) all earned their first career APP Tour medals in New York City, and look to keep their momentum going in Newport Beach.
