8:13 p.m.

Thanks guys for following along this weekend. It's been super fun to be able to share all my experiences of my tournament weekend with you guys. I just finished the day, won my bronze medal, watched some of the gold medal matches, and packed up my things. I didn't get to hit anything on my bucket list because, of course, Seattle was cold and rainy, and this Florida girl does not like that kind of weather, so I just had some dinner, celebrated a little bit, had a pizza and an ice cream sandwich, and then next week, we get back on track, after I get home and get ready for the next few tournaments. So hope to see you guys at the next tournament!

A well-deserved dinner!

10:15 a.m.

We did it. Bobbi and I got bronze. It was a tough three-setter. We actually came out hot in the first game, super aggressive. The girls - Nicole Eugenio and Tia Elpusan - picked it up in the second game and won that one. Then Bobbi and I were just like, 'okay, we need to get back to our plan, stick to the plan, do what we need to do.' And we came out with game 3. I felt really comfortable, so I'm super happy for Bobbi and I to get a medal. It's our first medal of 2026, a bronze, so I'm happy with that. Obviously, we would have loved gold, but sometimes other teams have other plans for you, so you just have to roll with the punches. It's been a great week here in Seattle. A little cold, not to my liking, so I'm just going to hang out for the rest of the day, maybe do some sightseeing of the Space Needle or one of my bucket list items is to see all the baseball stadiums in the United States, so might go to a Mariners game on opening weekend. We'll see what the rest of the day has in store. But thanks for following along, guys. I'll give you one more little recap at the end of the weekend, and hope to see you guys around at some other tournaments!

8:47 a.m.

Happy Sunday! It's bronze medal match day. Obviously, Bobbi and I wish that we were in the finals, but going for a medal is still a really good feat for us. So we're happy to be out there together going for bronze at 9 a.m. Last night we just kept it low key. Bobbi had another match after our women's doubles match, so we stayed to watch, and then we just went for dinner, got some sleep, and now today's a new day, new match and new mindset!

4:18 p.m.

Well, that was a bummer. Bobbi and I lost our semifinal match to Jill and Emilia, both new partnerships for both of our teams, they just came out a little bit stronger together as a team. Bobbi and I played well together. I enjoy playing with Bobbi, but it's been hard sitting for hours. It's been a long day just getting to know this new format and getting ready for every match, always trying to warm up. Unfortunately, that team came out a little bit stronger than us. We just had a couple miscommunications. They played well, we played well at times. Tomorrow we battle back for bronze, and it's all about just getting a new mindset. Tomorrow is a new day, and we're competing together as a team tomorrow, we forget about today and we move on.

10:20 a.m.

Whoa, what a whirlwind of a morning so far! I had Domenika Turkovic in singles. She's a great opponent. She's really good at singles, has won many medals on tour, and I did not play well at all. She played great. She runs on every ball, and I was just in a very negative headspace during that singles match, which, I think, especially if you're coming from tennis, that happens a lot. So it's just learning how to get out of that. I unfortunately lost that match, and then had to bounce back straight for women's doubles. Luckily, Bobbi won her singles match, so we were able to just talk it out, laugh a little bit, get in a better head space for each other, for women's doubles, quick little warm up, and then moved on to our quarterfinal of women's doubles. We won the first game, super easy, 11-1 against Susannah and Glauka. And then all of a sudden they started making a lot of balls, playing a little bit more aggressive, and were up in that second game. So it was just a little bit of adversity for Bobbi and I trying to bounce back in that second game, get back to even with them, and then eventually take the lead. So I think it's good for our partnership to keep going throughout the day, have a little adversity and work through things together. And we have semifinals later today, so I'm just going to take a break, stretch my body, eat some food, fuel up, have another Celsius, get some energy going and get ready for our semifinals later today.

8:18 a.m.

Alright, it's a new day here on the APP Tour for the first tournament of the U.S. swing!

It's always a new city, new bed, new everything. Sometimes you get a good night's sleep, sometimes you don't. Last night, I had some Chipotle after dinner. I did some recovery, some red light compression boots. I always travel with those. So I try and do the best that I can with my body to take care of myself after matches, because sometimes sleep isn't always the best in a new bed, like I said. So I am just focusing on taking care of my body, and then waking up in the morning, just getting the right mindset, always drinking a Celsius to get my energy going, and just talking to my partner, talking through things, making sure that I'm going in with a good mindset, blasting some good music, some good tunes in the morning. I always blast a little Tiesto "The Business" to get myself pumped up. I just try and stay positive out here for a new day.

Singles match this morning, then straight into women's doubles, and then hopefully I win both, and then I play again in the afternoon, but it's always just a learning curve, playing a new tournament, new format, new partners, new city. So it's just always about going out there, being positive and having fun.

6:06 p.m.

I am finished for the day, and unfortunately we ended with a loss in our mixed doubles match. We came up against number 1 seed Jack Munro and Sofia Sewing. I mean, they're a good team, they're solid all around, so I knew it was going to be a grind after a long day. Drake and I just unfortunately came up short in that one. We move on to the next tournament, Drake and I together, so I'm excited for that.

Earlier in the day, Bobbi and I had our Round of 16 women's doubles match. We won that one. Felt good playing together for the first time, so I'm excited to keep going with her tomorrow. It's gonna be a fun day tomorrow. We have quarterfinals of singles first, then women's doubles, and then hopefully I'll be lucky in both, and move on in both and play the semifinals later in the afternoon.

I'm just going to go back, do some recovery this evening, take care of my body, get a good meal in and get some good sleep before tomorrow's matches.

2:25 p.m.

Whoa. Well, that was a pleasant surprise! I won my singles match 11-5, 11-4 against Shannon. I knew she was going to be a tough opponent. She's a good singles player. I honestly felt really good, really in control of all my shots, and so I'm actually proud of myself for winning that singles match. At the start of 2025, I was top 10 in singles. I've fallen out of the top 10 in singles. I had a struggle winning some matches and putting back-to-back matches together, so I'm actually just happy to come out with that match after winning a really emotional mixed doubles match, transitioning to play singles, won that and then now I'm going to transition my brain back to women's doubles with Bobbi for our first match of the weekend. So I'm super pleased, but sorry to everybody who has to come watch me super early tomorrow morning for my singles match.

1:12 pm.

Oh my gosh, I just finished my mixed match, that was three games. We won the first game, 12-10, we were up 9-1 in that game and they came back. They played amazing. We played Allison Harris and Kyle Koszuta. We lost the second game 11-9, and then the third game we won 11-7. Drake played amazing. That game was all about discipline - discipline and just really grinding out every single point. But now, because of this new format that we're adjusting to, I have to go get ready for singles, starting in 20 minutes, and then followed by my women's doubles match, and then another mixed match this afternoon. So this day is going to be a grind, and I'm ready for it.

11:18 a.m.

What's up, guys? Day 1 was super fun, actually. We got to practice early in the morning, and then I got to explore a city, which is sometimes uncommon for us as players. We kind of don't really have a lot of time when the tournament is so many days. So I got to explore a new city, we went to the Pike Place Public Market. I went with Zack Taylor, which, it was supposedly Seattle's nicest day out. The sun was shining, I was freezing and miserable because everything is outside, but it was really cool. I got to have some fresh clams and mussels, which were unreal! They have a lot of fish on ice that you see at this market, salmon, other kinds of fish, and we got to see the famous fish-throwing across the counter. It was kind of wild and a little scary, but supposedly it's famous, and I got to witness it, so I was excited about that. Zack and I got to try this custard creamery place. I had one made with Thin Mint cookies. I have to be honest, I don't eat a lot of desserts during tournament week so that was a little treat. We finished that, and I went back to my host house, and I fell asleep in my pickleball clothes at 5:30 until nine o'clock at night, because of the jet lag. I couldn't even keep my eyes open, I woke up and went straight back to bed.

It's a new tournament day here. This is actually the first APP, which, people are gonna think is crazy, that we, the girls, didn't start until 11:30 in the morning. Normally, we have an eight or nine o'clock start. So I got to sleep in a little bit. But I do like to wake up three hours before my start time, so I was up at 8:30. I have the same breakfast every single morning. It is a blueberry Mush, a protein shake and a banana. I have had that breakfast every morning as long as I'm in the United States for, oh my gosh, as long as I can remember, like over a year. Blueberry Mush is overnight oats. It's pre made, you get it in the refrigerated section. Mush is the brand. They have all these flavors, but there are only two flavors that are made with coconut water, strawberry and blueberry, because I have a tree nut allergy. All the other flavors are made with almond milk. So I have that breakfast every single morning, no matter if I'm at a tournament or I'm home, and then I kind of just get ready, and plan my outfits with my partners.

Like I said yesterday, we have a little bit of a different format, so trying to just navigate this new format. I warmed up with Bobbi, but my first match is actually my mixed match, but the men's doubles were still playing, so it's just kind of a waiting game of matches and a different progressive format this tournament. So I got to warm up with Bobbi, I'll have mixed with Drake first, then I will have my first round of singles. It's really the second round of singles in the draw, I think I play Shannon Pretorius, and she's actually a good singles player. She's won a couple medals already on the APP Tour, so I know it's going to be a grind of a day. After singles I have women's doubles with Bobbi. I'm not sure who are playing, because they played this morning and I don't know the winner. After that, hopefully Drake and I are able to win our first match at 11:30 and then after women's doubles in the afternoon, I would have a second mixed doubles match. So I'm just ready for a good day, a new format, first tournament of the year, and I'm excited to get started again with the APP Tour in 2026.

1:06 p.m.

Hey, y'all welcome to the blog! Super excited to be here this weekend, to be back at the first tournament in the states and playing on the APP tour this year!

The last three months have been a little crazy. We've been all over the place. The new Global Pickleball Alliance was formed by the APP and six other international entities (and others have joined since then), so to see them all come together and put tournaments together now around the world has been super fun. Last year we finished the year in India with the GPA event in Mumbai after the last APP Tour event in Fort Lauderdale. Then this year, for our first international tournament, we went to Malaysia for a week for the first APP of the year. A few people went to Japan. I did not go to Japan, as it was too quick a turn around. Then we went to Vietnam for D-JOY, another GPA event in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. And now, straight from Vietnam, I came to Seattle for the first APP Tour event of the year. So it's been a bit of a break from some tournaments, but to be able to travel the world with the Global Pickleball Alliance has been great.

Jet lag!

Some new things with the APP Tour this year are the GPA, like I said, all the international events coming together, but also the Tour is now signing players. It's not exclusive for us, but it's just a commitment for us to be able to play the APP Tour. Also this year we have a new format. It's a slightly progressive format, so it'll be a little bit different for us players to navigate a new format, playing singles, doubles, and mixed all in the same day, and then progressing each round. Another thing for me, it's a new year, so that means new partnerships! I am playing doubles with Bobbi Oshiro and mixed with Drake Palm.

Today's warmup

I'm excited to start the year in the States. In Seattle, it's a little cold coming from Florida, but luckily, we're indoors. Seattle is a cool city, so they have some cool places to go visit and sightsee, and I've never been to this city. I've enjoyed my time in Seattle so far. I'm trying to fight a little bit of jet lag coming from Vietnam. I traveled 30-something hours, I had a nice 12-hour layover overnight in the Taipei, Taiwan airport, and I slept in a chair for five hours. I've been practicing every day with my partners, getting some touches in, getting some feels in. Today, the day before the tournament, I just practiced some women's and some mixed. I'm gonna go get some lunch, and hopefully either the Space Needle tonight or the Pike Place market, which I really want to do. But like I said, it's super cold and the market is outside, so we'll see what comes up later.

Seattle weather

I'm super excited to have tournament in the States again, first one of the year, some new partners, and so we'll see what this week brings us!
