Northern California, here we come! The 2024 APP Tour continues this week with a return to Roseville, California, for the APP Sacramento Open on March 6-10 at the Johnson Ranch Pickleball Complex.

More than 1,500 players are expected to participate this week in Sacramento, featuring amateurs of all ages, pickleball’s elite pros, the AARP Champions (50+) and AARP Masters (60+) Divisions, plus the continuation of the Humana Cup competition. Sacramento will host singles, doubles and mixed doubles competition throughout the week, with chances aplenty to bring home some hardware.

The stage is set for world-class pickleball competition, as defending APP Tour gold medalists Judit Castillo, Chris Haworth, Will Howells, Jorja Johnson and Milan Rane return to action.

APP Tour mainstays Susannah Barr, Shelby Bates, John Cincola, Andrei Daescu, Ryler DeHeart, Jack Foster, Megan Fudge, Simone Jardim, Brendon Long, Will Sobek, Alix Truong, and members of the APP Next Gen National Team all return to action in Sacramento.

Andrei & Co.

Andrei Daescu led all APP pros with 29 total medals and 20 gold medals in 2023. The Romania native will play men’s doubles in Sacramento alongside Gabriel Tardio and mixed pro doubles with Megan Fudge. Fudge led all APP women’s pros with 28 total medals in 2023, and the Fudge-Daescu duo earned silver medals together at the season-opening APP Punta Gorda Open.

¡Vamos, Judit!

Judit Castillo earned her first gold medal of the 2024 season in Punta Gorda and looks to defend her title in Sacramento. The Valencia, Spain, native also earned women’s singles gold in 2023 in Sacramento and will look to retain her title. Castillo will team up in women’s pro doubles with Brooke Revuelta, who earned the overall women’s championship at the APP Next Gen Series in San Antonio in February.

The Champs are Back

Chris Haworth earned his first gold medal of 2024 in Punta Gorda and is the number one seed in men’s pro singles in Sacramento. Defending women’s doubles gold medalist Milan Rane, mixed doubles gold medalist Jorja Johnson, and men’s doubles gold medalist Will Howells all return to action in Sacramento.

The Kids are Alright
Richard Livornese, Jr., is primed to make some noise in Sacramento after being named the men’s overall champion for his dominant performance at the APP Next Gen Series event in San Antonio in February. Brooke Revuelta battled hard to earn the women’s overall title in San Antonio, led by gold medal performances in women’s singles and mixed doubles.

Super Siblings
Siblings JW Johnson and Jorja Johnson are ready to make some noise in Sacramento. The Johnsons’ developmental phase of their careers started at APP Next Gen and continued on the APP Tour, winning numerous gold medals and becoming some of the sport’s top players along the way. Now, they bring even more hunger for hardware back to where their pickleball journeys started.

Raising the Barr

Susannah Barr earned 24 total medals–including 11 golds—in 2023, both the second-most among APP women’s pros. Team “Fudge-Barr” returns to action in women’s doubles in Sacramento, and Barr will team up with Erik Lange in mixed doubles.
